The pace and scrutiny of corporate life have rarely been higher. Boards are judged not only on the decisions they take but on how clearly they explain them — to investors, employees, regulators and the public.
Don’t wait for the story to find you
Getting the narrative right, early, is the difference between controlling a story and being defined by it. The first hours set the tone for everything that follows.
Audience first
Who are you really speaking to? It is rarely just the media. Employees, customers and suppliers are listening too, and they are not looking for a polished corporate response.
Actions, not adjectives
Words such as “sincere” and “taking this seriously” are weak on their own. Focus on the tangible change underway, and communicate the action taken.
